The 130,000 s.f. addition and renovation of the existing complex consisted of:

  • Brand new 1,600-seat performance arena
  • A 7,000 s.f. Wrestling Practice Facility (the largest in NCAA Division III sports)
  • Renovation of Eby Fieldhouse into a multi-purpose court with three basketball courts and dedicated locker rooms for each sport
  • Eby also received new HVAC, windows, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Skybridge housing the student fitness center connecting the new Athletics & Recreation Complex to the existing Clark Racquet Center

As the largest capital project in Coe College’s history, the Eby Fieldhouse Renovation and Addition project was designed to ensure that Coe College is positioned to serve the next several generations of students. Health, wellness, and active lifestyles are inherent in the campus community. More than 90 percent of Coe’s 1,400 students participate in intramural sports, and nearly all students regularly work out in the college’s fitness center. In addition, Coe College enrolls 450 varsity athletes and offers 21 intercollegiate sports.

Coe College selected Russell as their Construction Manager in 2015 to help lead the process, which was built around the College’s project mission: “The Coe College Athletics and Recreation Complex (ARC) is designed to ensure that Coe will be able to serve the next several generations of Kohawks as well as Eby Fieldhouse served the students of the mid-twentieth century. The facility not only meets our current needs but also aligns with the college’s long-term strategic direction.”
