The historic Mayfair Hotel – reportedly the place where Cary Grant left the first-ever “pillow chocolate” – was in poor condition and facing low occupancy when Magnolia Hotels, a boutique hotel operator out of Colorado, purchased them.
With the use of Russell’s preconstruction services, the team met the required budget for the project to move forward on the 155,000 s.f., 18-story, 182-room hotel, breathing new life into the hotel and adjoining ballrooms.
In addition to the historic renovation, a bar was designed and constructed that included a new stained-glass window matching the styles of stained glass originally seen on the first floor. Finally, Russell carpenters provided the craftsmanship necessary to return many of the moldings to their original form.
