Set on the edge of downtown Davenport along the banks of the Mississippi River, the museum was built to house the expanding collections of the existing Davenport Museum of Art. The project was a centerpiece of a long-term effort to revitalize the riverfront area. Wrapped in a dual wall of opaque and transparent glass and built with European systems and materials seldom encountered in the United States, the Figge Art Museum is truly a masterpiece.
