Russell constructed a three-story, 42,000 s.f. outpatient medical clinic featuring 72 exam rooms, 24 provider offices, six nurse pods, and associated site utilities. The interior design followed the medical home model, with providers working in centralized, open pods. This layout enabled healthcare teams to monitor exam rooms efficiently, improve communication, and deliver faster, safer patient care.
Partnering with the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine and UnityPoint Health, Russell delivered a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced medical technology to enhance local healthcare services. The clinic’s expanded capabilities supported the recruitment of medical professionals and introduced additional specialties, including urology, neurology, and podiatry. By optimizing workflows, the facility allowed healthcare providers to see more patients with reduced wait times and faster intake processes.
Construction took place adjacent to the existing clinic and hospital, both of which remained fully operational throughout the project. Russell implemented construction fencing, safety signage, and on-site coordination to ensure patient and staff accessibility while maintaining a secure work environment.
To engage the community, Russell hosted site tours for various groups, including local high school students, project donors, and hospital board members, showcasing the project’s progress and its future impact on the region.
