Russell completed a new physical education (PE) addition to the Moline High School campus using approximately 20,000 s.f. of existing gym and locker room space and approximately 66,000 s.f. of new building expansion.

The project scope includes four full-size multi-sport courts (basketball, tennis, and volleyball), all of which are enclosed by a six-lane, 200-meter track, field event areas, and retractable batting cages suspended from the ceiling. The facility also features an 8,000 s.f. state-of-the-art weight room and 4,000 s.f. wrestling room. Additionally, the project includes restrooms, athletic support spaces, locker rooms, equipment storage, and a new common area that connects the physical education facility with the cafeteria. In what used to be a bottleneck for school traffic, this area will provide a space for students to spread out to study, dine or connect.

This project took place in two phases – Phase I included the interior renovation (locker rooms and weight room) which was turned over before the 2020-2021 school year started. Phase II concluded in 2020 and included all other aspects of the project scope.
