Russell served as the General Contractor for a 50,000 s.f. interior fit-out at Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, MO, delivering a full suite of high-end event and hospitality spaces. The scope included the construction of a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, multiple meeting and event rooms, restrooms, and a fully equipped commercial kitchen—each finished to luxury standards with complex flooring systems, designer lighting, and premium casework.
To accommodate casino operations, Russell coordinated all work within strict facility guidelines, including daily employee badging, off-hour construction windows, and the use of temporary partitions that blended into the existing environment to maintain a seamless guest experience. A grand staircase was added outside the event space, and new infrastructure was integrated above existing occupied offices, requiring careful phasing and access management.
Despite significant challenges—including the dismissal of the interior design team mid-project, major owner-driven design and material changes, and tight turnaround times for electrical system tie-ins—Russell maintained progress through proactive leadership, solution-oriented coordination, and strong communication with casino stakeholders and subcontractors.
Russell also managed procurement and installation of both the kitchen equipment and theatrical stage system—elements not typically carried by the GC—and self-performed light-gauge framing design and layout. To support accuracy and accelerate field execution, our team deployed advanced VDC services, including 3D coordination, drone documentation, and laser scanning throughout construction.
