Ribbon Cutting: New London Community School District

Over the past several years, New London Community School District has experienced a steady increase in student enrollment. While this growth was welcomed, it also presented a problem – limited space for classrooms. 

After months of planning between the school district, Russell, and architecture firm, ISG Inc., construction on a renovation and addition project that would solve this problem began in May 2022. 

After 17 months of construction, the New London Community School District hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by an open house on September 29, 2023 to celebrate the completion of their new addition and renovation to the New London Schools!

The project included:

• 12,752 s.f. gym addition
• 4,298 s.f. renovation of the existing gym into two new classrooms,
• a centrally located library,
• and a spacious staff lounge.

The new gym features six adjustable basketball hoops, a center dividing curtain that creates two secondary courts, and seating for up to 518 people.

Also located within the new addition is a weight room, office space for the Physical Education teacher, ADA-compliant bathrooms, and a concession stand that will allow for fundraising opportunities. The project also includes a new parking lot with additional parking spaces.
