Ribbon Cutting: Iowa 80 Distribution Center

On February 27, 2024, Iowa 80 Group celebrated the grand opening of the Iowa80.com Distribution Center with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting.

The new facility is designed to efficiently fulfill the company’s growing e-commerce sales through Iowa80.com while serving as a central hub for supplying products to Iowa 80 Group’s network of brick-and-mortar stores, including the renowned Iowa 80 Truckstop, Kenly 95 Petro in Kenly, North Carolina, and Joplin 44 Petro in Joplin, Missouri.

Spanning 250,000 s.f., the distribution center boasts a precast and steel design-build, featuring over 3,300 s.f. of office space and 10 loading docks. The facility provides plentiful room for Iowa 80 Group to introduce new equipment, streamline processes, and store inventory previously managed by third parties. With 10 loading docks, the facility enables rapid unloading and loading of shipments, while improved racking systems and rollers optimize the movement of products, resulting in significantly improved operational efficiency.

At the heart of the distribution center’s technological prowess are two Kardex Shuttles, forming an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) to maximize storage capacity and eliminate manual picking processes.

The distribution center prioritizes safety with a dedicated 9,400 s.f. hazardous material room, equipped to securely store hazardous chemicals and fluids, complete with a specialized fire foam suppression system.
