This 125,000 s.f. renovation of the historic Putnam Building built in 1912 as an office structure now features a 78-room hotel, 14 luxury apartments, more than 5,000 s.f. of meeting space, a grotto-style indoor pool, a spa, and first floor restaurant along with various other amenities. The Current Iowa also features the area’s first rooftop bar and restaurant overlooking the Mississippi River!
Among other firsts, The Current Iowa was built on the site of the first hotel to have been built west of the Mississippi. This unique hotel is full of beautiful, handpicked art, solar-powered generators and heating coiled sidewalks that will keep the sidewalks from freezing in the winter months.
The Current Iowa as well as its sister hotel, Hotel Blackhawk, are two of the Marriott’s 55 luxury hotels in their Autograph Collection and the only two in Iowa.
