GROUNDBREAKING: VERA FRENCH CAROL'S VILLAGE GARDENS

On September 12, 2024, Vera French held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction for Carol’s Village Gardens, a four-story residential development in Davenport, IA. This project aims to address the area’s pressing need for housing, offering a mix of 26 one-bedroom units and four two-bedroom units, each designed with the community’s diverse needs in mind.

Carol’s Village Gardens will feature:

  • Two offices and two storage rooms on the first floor, supporting both residential and operational needs.
  • Units specifically designed for mobility and communication needs.
  • Six units designated as Permanent Supportive Housing to aid persons recovering from homelessness, providing them with a stable and supportive living environment.

The project involves a significant amount of groundwork due to elevation changes, debris in the soil, erosion control, and deep foundations. To ensure efficiency and sustainability, the building will feature a design-build mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) system. Spanning 29,540 square feet, Carol’s Village Gardens is expected to be completed by Summer 2025.

This development has been made possible through the support of local and state funding partners, demonstrating a shared commitment to creating affordable, accessible housing.

Construction is being carefully coordinated to allow The Carol Center to remain fully operational, ensuring minimal disruption to current services. Housing applications for Carol’s Village Gardens are now open for 2025, generating growing anticipation within the community.
