Groundbreaking: PARR INSTRUMENT COMPANY MANUFACTURING EXPANSION
Parr Instrument Company hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, April 12th to celebrate the manufacturing expansion to their existing facility in Moline, IL.
For over 125 years, Parr Instrument Company has been at the forefront of innovation, manufacturing high-quality laboratory equipment in the vibrant community of Moline. Parr selected Russell to be the design-build partner for a new, environmentally sustainable manufacturing facility that will allow the company to accommodate their growing workforce and increased demands. The facility is a testament to its deep-rooted commitment to the Moline community and environmental stewardship.
The new 53,565 s.f. addition is designed with efficiency and productivity in mind, featuring:
- A pre-cast structure, showcasing a commitment to energy efficiency, durability, and longevity.
- Roof-mounted solar panels that will offset a remarkable 65% of the building’s energy consumption, further reducing its carbon footprint.
- Two loading docks, equipped with a five-ton exterior bridge crane will streamline material handling processes, ensuring seamless operations and timely deliveries.
- A load-bearing mezzanine will provide valuable additional storage space, optimizing floor layout and maximizing functionality.
Central to the success of this project is the utilization of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) during the design and preconstruction phase. By leveraging advanced technology, the project team was able to coordinate critical building infrastructure and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) components with unparalleled precision. This proactive approach minimized cost impacts and resolved potential clashes virtually, streamlining the construction process and ensuring a seamless transition from concept to reality.
Construction will begin this spring and is slated to be completed in Spring 2025. Russell is proud to be the design-build partner on Parr Instrument Company’s new manufacturing facility.
