GROUNDBREAKING: MASON CITY VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMUNITY-BASED OUTPATIENT CLINIC

GROUNDBREAKING: mASON CITY Veterans Affairs COMMUNITY-BASED OUTPATIENT CLINIC

On Tuesday, July 21st, Russell broke ground on a new 13,500 s.f. Veterans Affairs (VA) Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Mason City, IA. This new facility will be replacing the clinic’s current location and will provide a “one-stop shop” for the health needs of area veterans. A larger space will also accommodate for growth in primary care and existing specialty services such as group therapy, physical therapy, radiology, telehealth, and chiropractor care.  Battlefield acupuncture will also be offered among these diversified services. This form of therapy helps alleviate muscular, skeletal, and neuropathic pains and has shown tremendous success in over 82 percent of patients. While acupuncture alone won’t cure the problem, this form of therapy can be used to cope with the pain as an alternative to narcotics.

According to the US Department of Veterans Affairs, the VA system includes 1,255 facilities that work to meet the health needs of over nine million veterans each year. Over the past two years, Russell has had the pleasure of constructing, along with long-time design partner, Marasco & Associates, two other VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinics; one in Spirit Lake, Iowa and another in Norfolk, Nebraska. The construction of Russell’s third VA in Mason City, IA is scheduled to conclude in Spring of 2021, and we couldn’t be more excited to be constructing another facility for the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
