Team Memeber Spotlight: Brian hedgren
At Russell, our success is measured not just in projects completed, but in communities strengthened. Brian Hedgren exemplifies that belief, leading with integrity, innovation, and heart.
With more than 28 years of construction experience, Brian is known for his hands-on leadership, proactive communication, and steadfast commitment to clients and community alike. As a Senior Project Manager, he serves as the main point of contact throughout preconstruction and construction, overseeing cost, schedule, and quality with precision and care. His approach centers on early engagement, open communication, and proactive problem-solving.
A trusted leader with extensive aquatic and recreation facility expertise, Brian has successfully managed multiple pool projects across Illinois and Iowa, including the Augustana College Health & Human Performance Center, North Scott Community YMCA, and several school district competition pool facilities. His ability to coordinate complex mechanical and structural systems ensures that every facility is safe, high-performing, and built to last.
Rooted in Russell’s core values of Client-Centric service and Appreciating People, Brian fosters an environment of accountability and respect where owners, architects, and trade partners work together to deliver exceptional results. His leadership exemplifies Russell’s mission of Building Great People, Relationships, and Communities every step of the way.
“I make it my personal mission to let the owner know that I am there to address all issues that may arise at any time,” Brian shares. “I understand the importance of timely decision-making that drives cost savings and reduces the project’s schedule.”
For Brian, safety is personal. He is deeply committed to ensuring every Russell team member goes home in better condition than when they arrived and extends that same responsibility to the students, staff, and community members who interact with our jobsites. His proactive planning and communication help create safe, respectful, and engaging environments for all.
“I love giving tours to students and young people,” Brian says. “Watching their eyes light up when they see how ideas become buildings reminds me why we do what we do. It’s about inspiring the next generation to dream big and build even bigger.”
Outside of work, Brian gives back through United Way Quad Cities while also coaching youth sports. His dedication to community and mentorship reflects Russell’s belief that building great projects starts with building great people.
We are incredibly grateful for Brian’s continued dedication and commitment to excellence. His leadership, compassion, and drive to make a positive impact both on and off the jobsite exemplify what it means to be part of the Russell family.
