Ribbon Cutting: Black Hawk College Building 1
Yesterday on August 29th, Black Hawk College celebrated the completion of their exciting addition and renovation at Building 1 with an official ribbon cutting ceremony. With work involving 200 tradesmen and nearly 15 crafts, this project builds on the support of higher education and enhanced learning experiences in the Quad Cities.
Improvements to Building 1 include a 20,000 s.f. addition and 68,000 s.f. of renovations. The two-story addition features new, larger classrooms and an open, 5,000 s.f. courtyard between the addition and existing building. Comprising three floors, the renovations include 29 offices, 23 classrooms, a new HVAC system, LED lighting and fire suppression system.
“What is really cool is that the ultimate customer here are the students. This is neat space to be able to see learning happening, which is really what we are all here to celebrate. Congratulations to the college and, more so, the community to have this project come to life.” Jim Russell
Thank you, Black Hawk College, for choosing Russell as your construction partner once again. We are honored to have a continued partnership with Black Hawk College and Demonica Kemper Architects to help enhance this important college in the Quad Cities for current and future students!
