The Genesis Medial Center – East Campus Expansion project was originally one of the largest complex medical expansions in Quad Cities history. This project included 33,000 s.f. addition, which changed the hospital’s front entrance to include a glassy façade. It also included a 20 bed Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), two new super surgical suites, four Cardiac Catheterization Suites, Electrophysiology Lab, lobby, administration area, four new Birth Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
This project included 2 ½ years of construction activity, in order to meet the construction deadline and not disturb the functioning facility departments, much of the construction was performed during off hours or during third shift. For example, all operating room and corridor work was completed at night to increase Genesis’s productivity during the day.
Russell also created direct access for construction workers to external building entrances, instead of going through heavily trafficked areas. This reduced employee and patient interactions with the construction team.
“Their commitment to the overall success proved essential and their attention to detail provided a level of comfort for my staff.”
