Groundbreaking: Riverdale Elementary School Addition and Renovation

Riverdale Elementary School hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, May 26th to celebrate their new addition and learning space renovation project. The project will include a new addition for kindergarten classrooms, as well as the renovation of the school library and 15 classrooms for grades three through five. The goal of this project is to provide students with a safe and functional learning space that incorporates more of today’s modern technology and learning techniques.

The ceremony included speeches from Riverdale Community School District, Josh Temple, Elementary School Principal, Mark Lofgren, and Russell Project Manager and previous Riverdale Elementary attendee, Darrin Pearsall.  “In the next year, we look forward to sharing all 20 new learning spaces with our students, our staff, and our families,” Superintendent Temple shared.

The ceremony was attended by the Riverdale Community School District School Board, students, staff, and parents. The excitement of the 500 students in hard hats was displayed, as they chanted “dig it!” during the groundbreaking as the school board and key members of the project held their shovels.

Construction will begin May 29, 2023, and is estimated to be completed in August 2024.
