IDEAS2 Merit Award
The Davenport Skybridge was one of only 11 projects that received national recognition in the Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel awards program (IDEAS2). Conducted annually by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), the IDEAS2 awards recognize outstanding achievements in engineering and architecture on structural steel projects around the country. This project was chosen from over 70 submissions throughout the United States.
A panel of design and construction industry professionals identified one National and two Merit award winners in three categories, based on constructed value. The Davenport Skybridge received the Merit Award in the category of projects under $15 million.
Each project was judged on its use of structural steel, with an emphasis on creative solutions to project requirements; design innovation; aesthetic and visual impact of the project; innovative use of architecturally exposed structural steel; technical or architectural advances in the use of steel; and the use of innovative design and construction methods.
