22nd Annual Charity Golf Outing Charity Recipient Announced

Russell Construction is proud to announce that the charity of choice for this year’s 22nd Annual Charity Golf Outing is Habitat for Humanity of the Quad Cities. This year’s golf outing will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club.

Founded in 1993, Habitat for Humanity of the Quad Cities (HFHQC) is a nonprofit Christian housing organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing in the Quad Cities by building simple, decent and affordable housing so all people can live as God intended.

HFHQC partners with qualified families to create affordable housing in the community.
Partner families:
□ Are selected based on need, ability to pay a mortgage and their willingness to partner with Habitat.
□ Attend a series of educational classes on handling finances and becoming a homeowner.
□ BUY their houses with a 1% down payment and a no-interest mortgage.
□ Are required to perform 250 hours of “Sweat Equity” by volunteering their time for HFHQC.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT HFHQC:
□ Completed 65 homes in the QCA
□ Habitat homes shelter over 270 people in the QCA
□ Adds over $60,000 to tax base each year
□ HFHQC employs only five people
□ Over 3,000 volunteers built homes in 2009
□ $80,000 must be raised to build a home
□ Habitat ReStore sells gently used building materials & supplies.
□ ReStore diverted over 2,215 tons of materials from area landfills last year.
