Community Engagement
Since its inception in 1983, Russell Construction’s commitment to philanthropy has been vast in scope and size.
“Lasting Community Impact” is among the company’s core values and this notion runs deep within the organization. The company as a whole is well-connected across a variety of community organizations in the Quad Cities, and is encouraged by the executive leadership to give of themselves in whatever capacity they are able.
To memorialize his vision of community support, Jim Russell founded an annual charity golf outing event with the intention of raising money for a different charity each year. Jim empowers employees to actively participate in choosing the charitable recipient through an internal nomination, interview and voting process. Over the history of this event, more than $200,000 has been given back to Quad Cities charities. A small snapshot of past recipients includes:
Jim is also known for providing a matching dollar initiative for a variety of causes in order to engage and motivate others to give of their time, treasures and talents.
Over the last 15 years, Russell Construction had donated more than
$1 Million to local non-profit and community service agencies across the Quad Cities. A recent internal survey showed that employees donate approximately
4,000 of personal and
1,300 of work hours to local non-profit organizations, such as the
United Way,
Big Brothers Big Sisters and
Junior Achievement of the Quad Cities, each year.
